The Eddy Farm School for Horse and Rider (EFSHR) is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to teaching classical techniques that encourages clear communication between horses and riders while also promoting amateur competition for everyone in our community regardless of age or physical capabilities.

Doris Eddy was born on the farm in 1918. She traveled throughout New England to learn from exceptional riders of her day before returning to the farm in 1956 to establish one of Vermont’s first riding schools.

Doris trained and schooled horses teaching excellence in horsemanship. The Eddy Farm School continues this tradition by focusing on fostering relationships that are mutually beneficial for horse and rider. Students learn the power of balance and the vital role it plays in communicating with the horse and each other.

Since Doris’ death in 1998, The Eddy Farm School has been led by a Board of Directors who strives to honor Doris’ legacy, preserve the history of the farm while guiding The Eddy Farm School for Horse and Rider forward to ensure its place in the community for years to come.
